Programs
Staying active and engaged not only contributes to a healthy lifestyle, but can also lead to new friendships and a more fulfilling life. At North Lambton Lodge we take pride in offering a variety of programs and activities to enhance your personal well-being.
When planning activities for you, the emphasis is placed on what you like to do. Our experienced staff want to support you in your daily pursuits and ensure you have access to those activities that best suit your needs, interests, culture and passions. We will embrace you as a unique individual.
Physiotherapy
Whether you are recovering from surgery or just trying to stay healthy and active we can offer an individualized physiotherapy program to meet your needs. Our physiotherapist and physiotherapy assistants can help to reduce pain, improve strength and balance and help you maintain your independence.
Recreation & Leisure
The Recreation and Leisure staff host monthly meetings with Elders to develop the activity calendar. You are invited to share your thoughts and ideas on what programs and activities you would like to see offered. The calendar is designed to keep you involved and immersed in fun and friendship. There are a variety of activities, including large and small group, one to one and self-directed, throughout the day, every day of the week. Along with our in-house activities, we also offer a variety of outings in the community, including trips to the theatre, boat cruises, shopping outings and many more.
Social Work
Our experienced social workers will help with your transition to the Home, provide support if you experience changes in your health and assist with any issues you may identify. Any staff member can connect you with social work or you can find the social worker in her office in the Home several days each week.
Spiritual Care
Our local community of faith leaders provide individual and group support to the Elders of North Lambton Lodge. Whether it is singing hymns in the choir or quiet reflection in the chapel our community of local faith leaders can support your spiritual needs.
Pet Therapy
Sometimes you just need a friend who will listen. Our volunteers from the St. John Ambulance Pet Therapy program can lend you that ear, but they may ask for a good scratch in exchange. Family pets are also welcome to visit you in the Home.
Snoezelen Therapy
Snoezelen (pronounced “snoozlin”) is a non-pharmaceutical, multisensory activity. Snoezelen is a safe, non-threatening environment filled with sights, sounds, textures, and aromas. People with limiting conditions enjoy gentle stimulation of their senses in an atmosphere of self-control, autonomous discovery, and exploration. This overcomes inhibitions, enhances self-esteem, and reduces tension. Philosophy of care in which sensory stimulation is used as a method of relaxation and redirection.
