Meet Elders from The Lodge
June was Seniors Month and here at the Lodge we wanted to highlight a few of our amazing Elders!
Joanne is always looking to lend a helping hand. She oversees the watering of the Turner Court and the Pine Lane Gardens… which couldn’t look better! Joanne is our green thumb here at the Lodge and is always willing to help anyone needing some gardening advice. Joanne is also an accomplished crafter and has made many fun and creative projects while living at the Lodge. She keeps very busy with these projects as well as being on the Executive of Residents’ Council.
Mac & Maxine live here at the Lodge and are twins. They were born and raised on a farm just outside of Forest. Mac and Maxine moved off the farm and to Windsor, where they both got jobs working for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) in food service. Maxine moved from Windsor to St. Catherines, where she spent 50 years of her life. Maxine enjoyed her time working for the CNIB in tuck shops and cafeterias, where she sold everything from sandwiches to magazines. Mac also spent his life working in food service and moving around Ontario. He eventually settled in Toronto when he landed a senior management position with the CNIB. Maxine moved to the Lodge back in 2005 and Mac lived next door in the apartments before moving to the Lodge in 2021. They now live a few doors down from each other, so they can spend lots of time together.
Marvin may be new to the Lodge, but he definitely has experience visiting new places. He spent his life travelling around the world and creating new businesses. Marvin was once sailing to the Bahamas and his sailboat was hit by an ocean liner and sank. He was the proud owner of the first donut shop in London (and many more after that), was a real-estate broker in Florida and spent time living down in sunny Jamaica. Now Marvin spends his days here at the Lodge chatting with everyone in the community!
